Step 1 to self awareness:
Have you ever just stopped and thought about the human? A human being. The keyword here is the being. I think about how wonderful and special we are. We are a perfect sentient being. We have the ability to be so great and wonderful. We are the most complex, beautiful thing on the planet. Before we can look to the stars for life, I believe we need to understand the life that is already here. We are not ready for others, because we do not understand self.

The path for enlightenment is not out there, but inside us. In my studies I have
learned that, in order to understand anything, we have to understand ourselves. We DO NOT yet posses this. I can barely fathom the abilities of myself and here we are trying to solve the secrets of the Universe.

Personally I have been reading about the monks and their practices. In each and every single book, video, article, and radio broadcasts about them, we are told ONE universal truth. We know nothing. To them we are by far, way off the path to human understanding.
To me, the most important thing that I have learned from other cultures and the monks, is to KEEP MY BIG MOUTH SHUT! I do not fully understand the
environment around me, so how can I make it better. There will always be an underlining truth that I am unaware of. I can not make good decisions without all the facts. The saying, "For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction" may very well turn a good decision into a really bad one. Simply because I'm unaware.
