Reductions for Gas, electric and overall cost of living

I am going to be posting some "heavy" ideas for saving money during this economic crunch. These ideas are only food for thought. You must take responsibility for your own decisions and ensure safety. You can remove all unnecessary weight from your car. You can empty your trunk including the carpets and unnecessary crap that we all store there. Car stereo's can also be removed.

You can close off all rooms in your home that you do not need to heat. If you have spare rooms that you can afford to shut up you can save a lot of heating costs. Make sure there are no pipes that will freeze above and below that room.

Unplug everything in your home that you do not use all the time. Even a toaster draws power when not in use. Some examples are game systems, tv's, radio's, lamps, chargers, and the like.

Use rain barrels to store runoff water to feed your yard and garden. I am going to install a 250 hallon water tank outside to gather water for a garden.
